Hassan Must Address Iran Developments at National Security Debate

Press Release

Date: Sept. 23, 2016
Location: Manchester, NH

Yesterday in response to a question from Kelly about the $1.7 billion paid to Iran, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff said, ""on principle' he is opposed to sending money to Iran, a country he called a prime exporter of malign influence." He also said he was "under no illusions about what Iran is intending to do" with the cash, alluding to their continued support for terrorist activities and despotic regimes. Meanwhile, Governor Hassan has remained silent on the many failures of the Iran Deal and has yet to take a position on the pallets of cash sent to Iran in exchange for American hostages, further demonstrating the need for a standalone debate on foreign policy issues so New Hampshire voters know where both candidates stand."Every day we learn more about Iran's dangerous behavior and the Obama administration's concessions to the Tehran regime, and this is exactly why it's so important that Governor Hassan and Kelly discuss these issues in detail on stage at a national security debate," said spokeswoman Liz Johnson. "There's simply no reason for Hassan to deny voters the opportunity to hear directly from both candidates on what they will do to keep New Hampshire and our country safe -- including their plans for addressing Iran's continued bad behavior."

Kelly urged Governor Hassan last week to accept a debate on national security matters, but Hassan has refused.
